Film and embodiment: first explorations

Here are some work in progress images and short film clips from the latest explorations of various eating implements, created by artist Nuala Clooney,

Nuala employs materials for their symbolism and relationship to the body and her current practice has focused on tableware and eating implements, subverting them by playing with notions of carnal union, bodies feeding bodies and the sexual politics of cutlery.

We are working towards a film, which explores ideas of female embodiment, the interchange between inside and outside, and the role of the senses in communicating meaning.

“Outside and inside are both intimate – they are always ready to be reversed, to exchange their hostility. If there exists a border-line surface between such an inside and outside, this surface is painful on both sides.” (from Gaston Bachelard’s Poetics of Space)

Thank you to Nuala Clooney, Tereza Kamenicka and Anna Ciaunica.

Also to The Winemakers Club for a great location.
