Exploring Generations: Unfolding at Absolute Now II

I was delighted to take part in the group exhibition Absolute Now II, at Danielle Arnaud gallery in London, curated by Kaz. I presented Unfolding, an installation consisting of two projections: Performing Daughters (2022) and Being Between Beings (2025).

Unfolding forms part of my ongoing Four Generations of Women project, which began in 2012 and continues to develop. Through it, I explore the connections between four generations of women in my family, from the youngest, aged seven, to the oldest, aged one hundred. Over time, the project has taken on many layers of meaning: it is at once a ritual, a documentary, and an ongoing enquiry.

The installation brings together paper shapes onto which moving images are projected, showing the generations performing in white paper costumes. Across these costumes, films from earlier years are projected in turn, creating a kaleidoscopic layering of identities and temporalities. In one corner, a ritual marking my grandmother’s hundredth birthday unfolds.

A Moment Held: A Ritual for Shared Presence
Closing event and sensory workshop with Tereza Stehlíková

In this workshop, participants will share stories through memories connected to an object they bring with them on the day. The session will culminate in the creation of a shared ritual for the present moment, as a way of grounding ourselves in the here and now.
