A presentation of my work and research: Across the Unseen Seas
Talk about using my own creative practice, working in moving image and sound, to capture and communicate internal states, hidden histories, emotions and embodied memories. The key references are the works of Czech artist Jan Svankmajer, the surrealist concept of mental morphology, and the French philosopher Gaston Bachelard’s book Poetics of Space. I use the example of three of my recent short films, focused on the engagement of the senses. There are: Summer Rituals (2014), Dinner for Deep Surface Divers (2016) and Across the Unseen Sea (2014).
